The AIM-54 Phoenix is an American radar-guided, long-range air-to-air missile (AAM), carried in clusters of up to six missiles on the Grumman F-14 Tomcat, its only operational launch platform. As a target drone, Topaz is designed to be recoverable (via parachute) and reusable, and Ukrjet says the maximum combat radius for a single sortie is around 248.5 miles (400 kilometers). In pre- vious firings, the Phoenix missile had been launched from an A - 3A Skywarrior equipped as a Phoenix test bed. It can fly at a maximum altitude of 10,670m above mean sea level (MSL) and 6m above ground level (AGL) and perform G-turns from -2G to 9G.
